A Choice for Women offers a wide range of gynecological services; we perform surgical abortions up to 20 weeks. We administer the abortion pill up to 9 weeks of pregnancy. What to expect
The abortion procedure is simple and straightforward. First, you will be asked for some paperwork. This includes information about you and your medical history and consent forms for the procedure.
In the lab we will review your medical history. It is important that your history is as complete and accurate as possible so we can provide you with the best medical care. Your vital signs will be checked and your blood will be tested for anemia and Rh Factor.
Next, you will meet with our counselor. She will discuss the procedure, your anesthesia, and how to take care of yourself after the procedure. It is very important that if you have any questions or concerns you should ask them then. Our counselors are experienced and very caring. Feel free to discuss your situation with them as they are skilled in dealing with the full range of situations that confront women. Our counseling staff is very knowledgeable about birth control and should be able to find an appropriate and reliable method for you. Patient support is a vital aspect of our care.
In the procedure room you will be given sedation, then the doctor will perform the procedure under ultrasound guidance.
Afterwards, you will be taken to the recovery room where our nursing staff will monitor your vital signs. Each patient will be given antibiotics to take home. Your ride will be notified on what time they can come and pick you up. You can plan to be in the recovery room for about an hour.
